Albert Neal Fariss

Albert Neal Fariss, Sr died in his home on Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1952 to Sallie and Jasper Fariss of Rustburg, Virginia. On March 2, 1973, Albert married Katherine Dunaway at Falling River Baptist Church, in Brookneal, Virginia. Albert and Katherine had three children, Albert Neal Fariss, Junior, and twins, Brianne Nicole Gale and Brian Nicholas Fariss. Albert served for many years as the Construction Inspector and Maintenance Supervisor for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He went on to have roles in many areas as an Assistant Vice President of Operations for Co-Op Savings, the Marketing Manager for Lynchburg Foundry Credit Union, and the Assistant Vice President of Security and Facility Management for First National Bank. Albert was an active member of his community. His faith was important to him and he was a member of the New Chapel Baptist Church Community, as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Moderator, and Deacon. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball and he was a band booster for Rustburg High School. He was an avid supporter of the Arts doing back stage and front stage activities for the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center. His favorite past time was to head to Hat Creek Country Club to play golf. Albert is survived by his wife Katherine, their children Neal Fariss and his partner Christina Mirabella of Lynchburg, Virginia, and his grandchildren Makayla Carlene Fariss and Riley Paige Fariss, his daughter Brianne Kilbourne her husband Jason of Glade Spring, Virginia and their children Benjamin Grant and Brent Fariss Kilbourne, and Albert's youngest son Brian of Boise, Idaho. He is also survived by his sister Tina Barbour and her husband Larry of Altavista, Virginia, and his sister-in-law Gale Seamster and husband Ronnie of Brookneal and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024 at New Chapel Baptist Church, Rustburg by the Rev. Tim Dooley with interment to follow in Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rustburg with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Gladys and other times at the residence.
