Anna Marie Gladwin Clark

Anna Marie known to all as "Nancy" passed on January 16, 2014 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Sidney Clark, daughter Patricia Van Arsdale and great grandson Jason Van Arsdale. She is survived by 2 sons, William Clark - Inwood, WV and Lawrence Clark - Gretna, VA; 3 daughters, Joan Jackson - Warrenton, VA, Mary Clark - Longmont, CO, and Cindy McLaughlin - Highland Lakes, NJ; 13 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren as well as her sister Margaret Kennedy - PA, along with nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clark came into this world as Anna Marie Theresa Gladwin in Wilkes Barre, PA. To family and friends she was known as Nancy. As a young adult her family moved to Hoboken, NJ. Nancy attended Jersey City Medical Center and received the degree of Registered Nurse. After marrying Sidney Clark on May 3, 1945 and starting a family they bought a home in Haskell, NJ. Her professional career started as a school nurse. Nancy was the first school nurse at the Haskell Elementary School; her responsibilities included the Midvale School as well. She went on to Seton Hall University for her teaching degree. Nancy also worked in Bell Air Nursing Home. For the majority of her professional life she was the school nurse. She retired in 1985 and Sid and Nancy retired to Altavista, VA. Nancy was an active member of the St. Francis parish in Haskell, NJ and in retirement was an active member of St. Victoria parish in Altavista, VA. At 90 years young Nancy had a very full life. Working at a career she loved, raising her family, she enjoyed many activities including traveling with family and friends. God saw Nancy was tired and the cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her and whispered "come with me". With tearful hearts we watched her slip away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands do rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Victoria Catholic Church, Hurt by Father James Gallagher, Jr. with interment to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4:00 p.m. and 7 - 9:00 p.m., Sunday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
