Catherine McDaniel McPeters

Catherine Lee McDaniel McPeters, 91, of Altavista, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2025, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Rondell Charles McPeters. Born on October 17, 1933, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William Ward McDaniel and Mildred Lee McDaniel Overstreet. Catherine was a life-long member of Lambs Community Church and retired from Central Virginia Training Center, where she worked as a nurse in their hospital. Catherine's greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in preparing home-cooked meals, sharing life skills like sewing, and offering a warm, loving presence. In her younger years, she gracefully balanced raising four children, working full time, and attending nursing school-while still keeping an immaculate home and ensuring her family always looked their best. Her unwavering faith guided every aspect of her life, and she sought every opportunity to share her beliefs and serve within her church community. She is survived by her children: Jon McPeters of Altavista; Tim McPeters and his wife, Alicia, of Chesterfield; Ron McPeters Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Greer, SC; and Jan McKinney of Forest. She is also survived by two brothers: Reid McDaniel and his wife, Sue, of Lynchburg, and Fred McDaniel of Easley, SC. Her legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren: Lauren Taeger (Greg), Lisa Steiger (Andre), Shea McPeters (Julie), Kevin McPeters, Eric McPeters, Sydney Pugh (Trevor), Ethan McPeters, and T.J. McPeters; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Viola Barbour; a granddaughter, Caroline McPeters; and her son-in-law, David McKinney. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Lambs Community Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Yusang Chung officiating. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Catherine's life will be held in September (date to be announced) in the reception hall at Lambs Community Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lambs Community Church, P.O. Box 284, Altavista, VA 24517. Arrangements are being handled by Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
