Chester Lambert

Chester Lambert, 83, of 88 Anderson Place, Rustburg died Sunday, April 14, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Mary Wooldridge Lambert for sixty-four years. He was born September 27, 1940 in Altavista, a son of the late Marco Ellis Lambert and Lucille Robertson Lambert. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and owned Lambert Refrigeration. Chester was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by three sons, Jeffery Lambert and his wife, Kathy of Rustburg, Barry Lambert and his wife, Kathy of Hurt and Timothy Lambert of Tennessee; two daughters, Christa Christian and her husband, Michael of Lynchburg and Beth Gordon and her husband, Mike of Rustburg; three brothers, Ronnie Lambert and his wife, Phyllis of Altavista, Ellis Wayne Lambert and his wife, Carol of Hurt and Michael Lambert and his wife, Molly of Hurt; two sisters, Patricia Kelly of Altavista and Sandra Delappe and her husband, Dwayne of Hurt; a sister-in-law, Pat Lambert of Altavista; ten grandchildren, Phillip Behrns (Na), Lauren Lambert, Erika Elgert (Andrew), Ashley Hegner (Garrett), Kendall Anderson (Kelsie), Emily Lambert, Brooke Lambert, Sarah Beth Anderson, Allyson Dunivan (Brandon), and Matthew Gordon (Kimmie); and five great grandchildren, Nick Elgert, Christian Elgert, Ava Hegner, Rylan Anderson and Jack Gordon; a grand-dog, Max; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Ward and her husband, Dean; three brothers, Baxton Lambert and his wife, Anne, James Lambert and Larry Lambert; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Kelly. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Sunday April 21, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, 8866 Gladys Road, Altavista, VA 24517 with Pastors Matt Gaston and WL Pillow officiating. The family will receive friends during the reception following the service.
