Jewel Dodson KrantzJewell Dodson Krantz was born June 10, 1933 and went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 30, 2010. A friend to everyone, a mother to many and a wife to a wonderful and faithful husband. As a Christian she would want everyone to go forward remembering the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 , ?Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.? She was the daughter of the late Homer and Alice Bowers Dodson. Jewell was an active member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church, a club member in Lakewalk (OFC), and a retiree of General Electric.Jewell leaves behind a spouse Bobby L. Krantz; a beloved daughter, Dale Menzel and her husband Tom; a son, Bobby Lee Krantz and wife Rhonda; a daughter, Lynn Crouch and her husband David; seven grandchildren, Kristin Smawley and her husband Jason, Kendall Hunley and his wife Amy, Travis Krantz, Mike Crouch, Tonya Moore, Kellianne Sprouse and her husband Brad, and Michael Menzel and his wife Carrington; ten great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; long time friend Lillian Dalton, special friends Terri Moore and Jean May; and a host of other special friends and relatives.She was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Dalton, Pearl Dodson, and Margaret Hicks.While there is much more that could be said she would ask that you grieve not for her but rejoice and be glad as she rejoices in heaven this day with her family and friends. She loved life and enjoyed it each day to the fullest. She will live on in the hearts and minds of many, as she touched the life of all. While she loved to live and do for others unselfishly she was ready to be with the Lord without fear of what the day would bring.The family extends their thanks to the cardiac team including Dr. Jason Budde who made every effort to mend her heart. While it was not God?s plan to heal her on earth it was His plan to take her home where she is forever healed. One does know not what tomorrow holds but one knows who holds tomorrow. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Mead Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. George Hatmaker with burial to follow at Altavista Memorial Park.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at her residence, 3 Crocetti Lane, Lynchburg and the residence of her daughter, Dale Menzel, 580 Addie Way, Lynchburg.The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Mead Memorial United Methodist Church, 13317 Wards Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
