Larry Wayne Hall

Larry Wayne Hall, age 77, of Grandy, NC passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 20, 2025, with family after being in declining health for the last year. Larry was the eldest son of the late Dillard and Opal Hall. He was born in Altavista, VA. He grew up in Lynch Station, VA but always called Altavista his hometown. Larry loved his wife, Roberta Boley for 55 years. Once married, he believed the Hall and Boley families were united as one. He is survived by his wife Roberta, daughter Bridgette, and son-in-law David of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his brother Danny Hall and wife Rita of Forest, VA, his in-laws Louise and Bill Hall, Emmie Boley, Bernice Myers, Shelia and Victor Hudson, Sandra and Barry Hall, Buzz and Sherry Boley, and numerous family members. He is predeceased by parents Dillard and Opal Hall, in-laws Snead and Elsie Boley, Butch Boley, L. Snead Boley, III, and Brett Boley. Larry loved God, family, and friends. He never met a stranger and was always ready to share a story or two. He enjoyed family vacations, reunions, and get-togethers. He took pride in his work and he retired after 40 years at BWXT, Lynchburg, VA. He treasured his memories of good times with his co-workers and friends. Getting older, he knew he wanted to live closer to his daughter Bridgette so they could spend more time together; so he and Roberta moved to the northern OBX area five years ago. Best Move Ever. They spent numerous hours playing cards and other games together. Both being very competitive, kept score and enjoyed beating each other. He loved his daughter very much and she was his pride and joy. He was blessed to live in a waterfront community. He was known in the community as the "Fisherman in his John Deere Gator". His motto was catch, clean, cook, and, best of all, consume the fish he caught. He loved watching the sunrises and sunsets while thanking God for His beautiful creation. He was active in the various churches he attended. He believed all of God's Word is truth, accepting all of God's gifts as blessings. He would smile and state he was a "Baptecostal" knowing it's not about the denomination but the relationship he shared with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Dr. Robert Putt with interment to follow in Mount Hermon Church Cemetery, Lynch Station. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
