Raymond Terry Rowles

Raymond Terry Rowles, 75, of 5861 Roark Mill Road, Hurt died Monday, August 10, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Wynelle Dillard Rowles for twenty-four years. He was born July 18, 1940 in Campbell County, a son of the late Russell Rowles and Hazel Burgess Rowles. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and accepted the Lord as his Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. Raymond was a self-employed vinyl siding contractor and loved to hunt and play crossword puzzles until his health started to fail him. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother in law, Doris Dillard of Hurt; a son, Mark Hutcherson of Hurt; a stepdaughter, Pansey Stitely (Eric) of Hurt; a stepson, Byron Dowdy (Jennifer) of Altavista; a sister, Carolyn Falls (Odie) of Hurt; two special nephews, Kevin and Aubrey Falls; four grandchildren, Hannah Hutcherson of Hurt; Heather Stitely ("squirt") and a special person in her life Daniel of Rustburg, Matthew and Elizabeth Dowdy of Altavista; a great granddaughter, Nathalie Jo Hankla. Raymond has numerous cousins that were special to him and his "Aunty Polly" (Dorothy Rowland), and left behind his beloved "Susie Q" who he adored. He loved his grandchildren and great granddaughter dearly and loved them coming to see him and talked about all of them, and how smart they were. He was so proud of them and they were dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his father in law, Joseph N. Dillard; his step son, Toby Wayne Dowdy; and sister in law, Sandra Tyree. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Mark Hopkins with interment to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. A special thank you to Generation Solutions and the Centra Hospice teams for their kindness and support. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at Finch and Finch, Altavista and other times at the residence.
