Barbara Rorer Moorefield, 89, of 1796 Grit Road, Hurt died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Gretna Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Stuart Clay Moorefield. She was born November 22, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Willie Rorer and Mamie Bailess Rorer. She was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is survived by her boy, Butch Eades and his wife, Melissa; one daughter, Sheri Mayhew; two sisters, Annette Jacobs and Shelby Mattox; two grandchildren, Kayla Stuart Mayhew and Shaun Anderson Mayhew; two great grandchildren, Jacie Marie Mayhew Alldredge and Aliyah Nicole Owen; and a dear friend, Sue Barker. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Rorer and Anderson Rorer. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Ron Voss. The family will receive friends at the home of her granddaughter Kayla Mayhew, 725 Woodlawn Academy Drive, Chatham, VA 24531. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Grit Ruritan Club Scholarship Fund c/o Butch Eades, 1681 Grit Road, Hurt, VA 24563.
