Calvin Edward Rowland, 64, of 452 Highwayview Road, Hurt died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of the late Theresa Pruitt Rowland. He was born August 7, 1956, a son of Nancy Rowland Rowland of Hurt and the late George Edison Rowland and a retired police officer of the Altavista Police Department. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Leigh Rowland of Hurt and Jennifer Marie Rowland of Mechanicsville; a brother, Alvin Rowland of Lynchburg; a sister, Cathy Bell of Huddleston; and four grandchildren, Kaylynn Rigney, Alex Johnson, Cassadee Johnson, and Summer Charette. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Chris Brooks. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
