Curtis Randolph "Dink" Cox, Jr., 72, of 267 Cresent Hill Drive, Evington died Saturday, March 5, 2022 at his home. He was the husband of the late Peggy Leigh Ellis Cox for 49 years. He was born May 7, 1949 in Campbell County, a son of the late Curtis Randolph Cox, Sr. and Irene West Cox. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, a retired employee of Campbell County Bus Shop, and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by one brother, Stephen Cox and his wife, Karen of Evington; one sister, Ann Witt and her husband, Johnny of Evington; three nephews, Michael Cox, Chad Witt and Brandon Witt; special cousins, Dorinda Hall and Buddy Hall; and numerous friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Salem United Methodist Church, Evington by the Rev. Chuck Schooler with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. Dink will be available for viewing Tuesday from 12:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, 1400 Edley Place, Lynchburg, VA 24502. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, Dr. MacCallum, the radiology ultrasound department and Centra Hospice.
