Ella Walker Layne Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ella Walker Layne, 106, formerly of Hurt and resident of Autumn Care for the past twelve years passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Autumn Care of Altavista. She was the wife of the late Thelbert Roby Layne. She was born June 7, 1916 in London, KY, a daughter of the late Robert Walker and Francy Proffitt Walker. She was a lifelong member of New Prospect Baptist Church and retired from BGF. She is survived by three daughters, Judy Layne and her husband, Pat of Lynchburg, Nancy David and her husband, Paul of Rustburg and Betty Rumph and her husband, Ron of Morristown, TN; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Walter Walker; and one sister, Hazel Maddox. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Brady Willis with interment to follow in Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
