Elmer Junior May, 89, of Hurt died Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty Carol Sharp May for fifty-eight years. He was born November 30, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Elmer May and Mildred Croft May. He was a member of Motley Baptist Church, a retired Baltimore County firefighter, and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He is survived by two sons, Kevin Lee May and his wife, Patricia of Hurt and Kenneth Lloyd May of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Carol Elizabeth Abernathy and her husband, James of Hurt; six grandchildren including their families and extended family. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Motley Baptist Church by the Rev. Mitch Etheridge with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the residence of his daughter, Carol at 320 Daybreak Terrace, Hurt.
