Emma Lee Norwitz, 80, of 511 8th Street, Altavista died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Norwitz, Jr. She was born on July 10, 1941, in West Virginia, a daughter of the late John Pete Puckett and Gladys Puckett. She worked as a teacher for many years at Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C. She later went on to become the matriarch of her family and stayed home to raise her grandchildren. She is survived by a son, John Carey; a daughter, Dana Snow; two sisters, Mary Moore, and Yvonne Puckett; five grandchildren, Dylan Snow, Amy Coffaro (Zach), Trevor Carey, Victoria Carey and John Carey; six great-grandchildren, Blake Coffaro, Riley Coffaro, Aleena Carey, Sophia Carey, Trevor Carey, Jr. and Abel Carey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Carl Puckett. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2022, at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Edwardo Soto with interment to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
