Etta Cox Coffey, 95, of 8375 Gladys Road, Altavista died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Guggenheimer Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late George James Coffey. She was born August 12, 1923 in Evington, a daughter of the late Willie Thomas Cox and Lucy Cox Cox. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Etta enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning and singing. She is survived by one son, Randolph Coffey and his wife Joyce of Altavista; one daughter, Deborah C. Payne and her husband Darrell of Altavista; four grandchildren, Donna Lanier (Terry), Jeremy Payne (Kara), Ray Coffey (Robin) and Chris Payne; four great grandchildren, Jill Sexton (Justin), Jordon Payne, Carly Payne and Brett Coffey; one great-great grandson, Easton Sexton; and a special friend, Myrtle Wade. She was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin and Bennie Coffey; three sisters, Virginia Little, Betty Little and Katherine Hensley; and five brothers, Tom, John, Reed, Charles and Edward Cox. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Draughn and Randolph Coffey with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Friday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the home of Deborah and Darrell Payne.
