James Jerry Queener, 79, of 112 Dominion Road, Altavista passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Irene Melton Queener for twenty years. He was born December 16, 1942 in Webster Spring, WV, a son of the late Lawrance Queener and Beula Rhea Queener. He was a retired welder at BWXT. Jerry enjoyed bowling, woodworking and helping people in need. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Regina Carol Queener of Altavista; one step-son, Freddie Leroy Melton of Austin, TX; three step-daughters, Mandy Faith Arthur and her husband, Jonathan of Lynchburg, Shelly Melton Fisher and her husband, Shawn of Amherst and Paula Melton Fulsom and Alan Good of Timberlake; one brother, Bob Queener and his wife, Jessie of Altavista; two grandchildren, James Moore and his wife, Adrianna and Miranda Moore and her fiancé, Brandon Hall; ten step-grandchildren, James Good, William Fulsom, Timothy Briggs, MaKayla Arthur, MaKenzie Arthur, Katheryn Good, Chloe Blackard, Braydon Hall, Oliva Good and David Fisher; and one very special great granddaughter, London Faye Moore. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Faye Queener; a sister, Jean Salisbury; and a brother, Joe Queener. A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Jim Hassmer. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
