John D. Adams Jr., 87, of 112 Adams Drive, Hurt died Monday, December 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Wynona Worsham Adams for sixty-three years. Born April 29, 1933 in Halifax County, a son of the late John Daniel Adams, Sr. and Eva Saunders Adams. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, served in the United States Army and was a self-employed farmer. He enjoyed cultivating, planting, and harvesting. He was a member of the Pittsylvania County Young Farmers Association for 64 years. Additionally, he was a member of the Pittsylvania County Cattleman's Association. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Adams, two sisters, Anita Dawson and Carolyn Moon and a brother-in-law, Wayne Moon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John T. (Tim) Adams and his wife, Kim of Hurt and Daniel K. (Danny) Adams of Hurt; a granddaughter, Katherine S. Adams and her husband, Preston B. Setzer of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Adams; a brother-in-law, Herbert Dawson; a niece Verna Burnette and her husband, Brian, and nephews, D.R. Adams and his wife, Stephenie, Carroll Moon and his wife, Carolyn, Douglas Dawson and his wife, Cathy. A private funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Finch and Finch Chapel in Altavista by the Rev. Brady Willis with interment to follow at the Adams Family Cemetery. You may attend virtually via live webcast or via radio transmission in the Finch and Finch parking lot.
