Larry Coleman Bailess, 72, of Hurt died Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born June 17, 1949 in Gretna, a son of the late Coleman Bennett Bailess and Mary Garland Worsham Bailess. He was a member of the Altavista Moose Lodge, loved NASCAR, and was a truck driver for Pepsi, LC Trucking, and FWC Trucking. He is survived by one son, Adam Bailess of Rustburg; a daughter, Chasity Ma and her husband, Richard of Columbia, MO; three sisters, Virginia Starkey of Renan, Clara Stump and Hazel Dowdy both of Hurt; two grandchildren, who Larry adored dearly, Emerie and Mason Ma; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Bennett. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Finch & Finch Chapel by Pastor Mike Dodson and Pastor Tommy Bryant with interment to follow at Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
