Margaret Robertson Johnson

Margaret Robertson Johnson, 90, of Hurt passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at Autumn Care of Altavista. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-two years, Kyle R. Johnson. She was born in Pittsylvania County, August 4, 1927, to the late John Robert Robertson and Mary Emma Lewis Robertson and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she previously taught 7 year old Sunday School, a member of WMU and served on the Shut In Ministries. She was retired from the Label Weave Co., a previous volunteer with the Altavista Life Saving Thrift Store and a member of the former Madeline Hurt Friendship Club. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raleigh, Robert, John W., and George Robertson; and her sister, Josephine Robertson Keen. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha J. Sorg of Richmond, Jo Ann Midkiff and companion, Hugh Rountrey of Lynch Station, Kylette Duncan and companion, Bobby Barker of Danville, adopted daughter, Monica Bell and husband, Ed of Gladys and special neighbors, Linda Eanes and Barbara Jones. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Brady Willis. A reception will follow the service in the church Family Life Center. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Sunday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence. The family would like to thank the Staff of Autumn Care for the love and compassion you showed our Mother these last few months.
