Marjorie Burnette Tippett

Marjorie Burnette Tippett, 90, formerly of, Altavista died Monday, January 25, 2021 in Cary, NC. She was the wife of the late Morris Odell Tippett for fifty-four years. She was born July 13, 1930 in Little Switzerland, NC, a daughter of the late Lonnie Aaron Burnette and Carrie Josephine Buchanan Burnette. She was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and with her husband, Odell, the retired owner/operator of Standard Fuel Company for thirty years. She is survived by a son, Aaron Tippett and his wife, Beth of Lynch Station; a daughter, Sherry T. Lanier and her husband, Keith of Cary, NC; a brother, Bill Burnette of Spruce Pine, NC; and two grandchildren, Trey Lanier and Taylor Anna Lanier. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Frances Baggett and Marjorie's twin, Jean Martin; and two brothers, Bennie Burnette and Tommy Burnette. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jeong Seung Lee. You may pay respects to Mrs. Tippett from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
