Mildred Rigney Parker, 76, of 318 Ogden Road, Altavista died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Davis Home of Altavista. She was the wife of Archie Lee Parker for 58 years. She was born November 21, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Bedford Rigney and Reese Tosh Rigney. She was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and a retired employee of BGF Industries. She is survived by three sons, Ricky Leonard Parker of Climax, Michael Alan Parker and his wife Becky of Hurt and Johnny Duane Parker and his wife Christie of Evington; two sisters, Rebecca Elliott of Dry Fork and Hazel Yeatts of Chatham; five grandchildren, Hollie, Johnny Lee, Kimberly, Ryan and Paige; and six great grandchildren, Patrick, Preston, Benit, Brody, Skylar, Carleigh and the seventh, Emberly on the way. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Rigney and a brother, Carol Rigney. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Morris and Rev. Dr. R.A. "Dick" Dailey with interment to follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the New Bethel United Methodist Church, 7061 Dews Road, Hurt, VA 24563. Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista is in charge of arrangements.
