Morris Haden "Snooks" Parker, 86, of 2341 Gallows Road, Gretna died Friday, December 28, 2018 in Altavista, Virginia. He was the husband of Nancy Allcock Parker for sixty-three years. Snooks was born July 2, 1932 in Campbell County, a son of the late Leonard T. Parker and Minnie R. Parker. He was a member of Penuel Baptist Church, worked for both E.W. Yeatts Inc., and English Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator for twenty years. Snooks along with his wife Nancy became the owners of the Colonial Restaurant and Motel in 1971 before finally retiring to Leesville Lake in 2012. Snooks loved a good cup of strong black coffee, a good laugh, a project to piddle on, and working Legos with his grandsons. He loved to play in the dirt a little each day either gardening or moving things, watching TV, rocking in his Lazy Boy and of course beech nut tobacco and Evan Williams with honey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rodney Parker and his wife, Cindy of Evington, Alan Parker of Gretna, and Chris Parker of Lynchburg; one daughter, Vivian Booth and her husband, Glenn of Rustburg; two sisters, Doris Ingram and Anne Crickenburger both of Blackstone; two grandsons, Jacob Cole Booth and Nathen Reid Booth of Rustburg; a special niece, Linda Ragsdale of Blackstone and special family friend, Pam "P.J." Viar of Gretna. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen "Happy" Josey; and a brother, Leonard "Pete" T. Parker, Jr. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2018 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Ron Davidson with interment to follow in Whites United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rustburg. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
