Oscar Monroe Fox

May 20, 1937 - May 21, 2021

Oscar Monroe Fox, 84, of 1880 Grit Road, Hurt died Friday, May 21, 2021. He was the husband of the late Mary Keesee Fox. He was born May 20, 1937 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late John James Fox and Ethel Smith Fox Clark. He was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Burlington Industries. He loved hunting, fishing, carshows, cruise-ins, working in his shop and spending time with family. He is survived by one son, William Howard Fox and his partner, Robert Keniston of Roanoke; one daughter, Rhonda Fox Allbeck and her husband, Pat of Hurt; two sisters, Shirley Fox Lewis and her husband, William (Tubby) of Altavista and Doris Fox Fogle of Altavista; and one granddaughter, Julie Lynn Allbeck of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by his life-long friend and car enthusiast Paul Creasy and his wife, Jennie Lee; a special friend that was like a daughter to him, Pam Adams of Lynch Station; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Loyd Fox, Percy Fox and James Fox; and one sister, Elsie Fox Crews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Morris with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Monday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider New Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Kaye Scruggs, 3185 Grit Road, Hurt, VA 24563.
