Peggy Jean Adkins Scruggs, 74, of 6300 Leesville Road, Lynch Station died Friday, June 17, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late James Ricky Scruggs for forty-eight years. She was born December 26, 1947 in Climax, a daughter of the late Omer Edward Adkins and Lizzie Adkins. Peggy loved gardening, flowers, feeding birds, her family and most of all being a loving Gramma. She is survived by one daughter, Amy Waller (Robert) of Hurt; one son, Paul Scruggs (Regina) of Lynch Station; four brothers, Lonnie Adkins (Joyce) of Lynchburg, Henry Adkins (Brenda), Wayne Adkins and Lee Adkins (Darlene) all of Climax; one sister, Joan Davis (Kelly) of Evington; three grandchildren, Maci, Dylan, and Lexi Waller; and was a mother figure to Kaitlin Adkins Minnix (Blake) of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald "G" Adkins; and four sisters, Rowena "Moe" Adkins, Lucy A. Dalton, Edna Adkins, and Adell Adkins. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Union Chapel Church Community Cemetery by Pastor Matthew Speck. Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista is in charge of arrangements.
