Richard Kyle "Dick" McKeel, Jr., 92, of Altavista died Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home. He was the loving husband of Shirley Hodnett McKeel for sixty-seven years. He was born November 19, 1928 in Waverly, TN, son of the late Richard Kyle McKeel and Allene Landis McKeel. He was a member of Lane Memorial United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, and retired Personnel Director of The Lane Company. Dick had a love for all sports, especially baseball, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he was team captain for the Volunteer baseball team. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Kyle "Rick" McKeel, III of Altavista; a daughter, Suzanne McKeel Jones (Ron) of Spartanburg, SC; two grandsons, Aaron Michael Jones and Brandan Chase Jones (Taylor Armstrong); and two great grandchildren, Alaina and Bowen Jones. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Green Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Ben Horrocks. You may pay respects to Mr. McKeel from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2021 at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
