Frank Ray Marshall

Surrounded by his family, Frank Ray "Papa" Marshall, 74, of Evington received the keys to his Ford awaiting in heaven on Sunday, December 4, 2016. His first ride down the Streets of Gold will be to reunite with his sister, Glinda Rush, whom he has missed every day. He was born October 3, 1942 in Danville, a son of the late Virginia Lee Isaacs Marshall and Frank O. Marshall, and was raised as a youth by the late Leonard and Mildred Marshall. Ray grew up in the Yellow Branch area where he met the love of his life, Lucy deBernard Marshall, to whom he was married for over fifty-five years. Ray was the number one fan and supporter of his sons racing careers and was always the first to meet them in victory lane. However, the biggest victory of his life occurred on April 28, 2010 when he asked Jesus into his heart. Ray was considered one of the best electricians in the area for over fifty years, and loved finding bargains at local flea markets. His personality far exceeded the chair and bed he was confined to for the past seven years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Dwayne Marshall (Karen), Dianne Irby (Mac), and Daryl Marshall (Melissa); five grandchildren, Michael and Travis Marshall, Lauren Anderson, Jake Irby, and Dylan Marshall; five great grandchildren, Cooper, Gavin and Levi Marshall, Karsyn and Corbin Anderson, all of which were the pride of his life; a special aunt, Katie Robertson; a special cousin, Carolyn Lee deBernard (Pat); and a special friend, Jason Wade, with whom he liked to talk old Fords. A private graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 by the Rev. Stephen Rabon in the Isaacs Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
