Wilmoth Doss McClelland

The Lord said, "Come, I have prepared a place for you, I will give you peace and eternal rest." She said, "Yes Lord. Just as I am." So on the wings of angels she left behind many family and friends who love her dearly, but only until we meet again. Wilmoth Doss McClelland, 97, of 332 Dearing Ford Road, Lynch Station earned her Heavenly reward Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Autumn Care of Altavista and was reunited with her loved ones by whom she was preceded. She was twice married, first to the late Jerry Chumley and secondly to the late Charles Ervin McClelland. She was born September 10, 1917 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Lessie Clark Doss Koontz and step-daughter of the late Ernest E.P. Koontz. She was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church where she was a Lifetime Member of the UMW. She was a former employee of The Lane Company and former Avon representative. She is survived by a two daughters, Darlene Robertson and Billy of Lynch Station and Peggy C. Rickenbach of Reading, PA; a step-daughter, Nancy M. McDaniel and Melvin of Altavista; five grandchildren, Jerry Cox, Carolyn Little and Phillip, Jeannie R. Hill and Bruce, Ellen DiSanto and Jeff, and Lynn R. Copes and Earl; two step-grandchildren, Dalphine Waller and Chuck and Tim McClelland and Lenette; fifteen great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren, and five great great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Chumley; a daughter, Edith C. Cox; a step-son, James McClelland; a grandson, Harry W. Rickenbach, Jr., and a great grandson, Timothy Rickenbach. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Allan Murphy and the Rev. Bill Greer with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m., Tuesday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
